We need to remind the parents to sent in permission slips prior to this Friday, 3/11 ( if they have not yet done so), as Mrs Barrett need to know lunch arrangements for the field trip in advance.

February News

Dears Parents:
I hope everyone had a great holiday and you are looking forward to the rest of the school year!!!

Here is the lastest news from Mrs Barrett:
We need volunteers on Monday, February 14th from 9:00 to 10:40 a.m to help out at the special learning center. Please let Mrs Barrett know if you can help.

Beginning Thursday and Friday, February 10th and 11th, we will invite first girsl on Thursday and then boys on Friday to bring in a "Show and Tell" beginning with the "vowel letter of the week". For example, the letter of the week of February 7th is A and students could bring an animal(stuffed). The week of 2/13 is E week for show and tell on 2/17 and 2/18.
The week of 2/21 is I week for show and tell on 2/24 and 2/25.
The week of 2/28 is "Oo"weekfor show and tell on 3/3/ and 3/4.
The week of 3/6 is U week for show and tell on 3/10 and 3/11.
Any items that are sent need to be non valuable. All items for girls will be returned home on the same Thursday and all items for boys will be returned home on the same Friday.

Also, if parents are interested in getting items from yards sales for our class'store. we will practice fair trades and buying items, etc..;in a school store in our class.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST!!!!!!!!

Tuesday is the 100th Day of School!!!For Tuesday, please allow your child to bring 100 items in a set. The items need to be samll enough to fit on our sorting mat; the items should be no larger than 1 inch in dimension. The items will be shared with others in our class and will not be returned.The children will be sorting, counting and graphing to the number 100.

UPCOMING EVENT

The class will perform a Thanksgiving Drama play in Mrs Barrett and Mrs Huddleston's Class on Monday, 11/15/10 at 9:00 a.m .ALL PARENTS ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

October news

Dear Parents:
Here is the lastest news from Mrs Barrett:

Curriculum Night tomorrow 10-7-10 from 6-8 p.m. Come and check out the Literacy, Math Journal and Technology lessons, as well as "child Care" on the Kindergarten halls.
We look forward to seeing you!!!!

Conference Week : October 18-22 .Mrs Barrett looks forward to seeing you all at your scheduled times.

We need volunteers on October 29 "Special Harvest Learning Center" from 9:00 a.m to 10:30 a.m . Please let Mrs Barrett know if you can help!!!!


Tips to remember:

*Practice identifying penny, nickel, dime and quater and their values at home with your child.

*Please cut and sent in a picture or word every Friday of an item beginning with the letter of the week, Mrs Barrett will be let you know the letter!!!!

*Please work with your child on the October Monthly Homework Chart, and turn in to Mrs Barrett at the end of the month.

Math Day supplies and participation needed

Dear Families,

Make way for "Hands On Problem Solving" at Mrs. Barrett's Math Day!

We need to get ready, and we need your help. This is what it will take:

1. One or two volunteers 3/24/10
2. Kidney beans (2 packs)
3. One pack blue construction paper.
4. Sunflower seeds
5. 1 8x10 pack of red construction paper pre-cut into 20 ovals to be ladybugs
6. 2 boxes gallon ziploc bags
7. 2 large bags of jelly beans
8. 1 jumbo box of goldfish
9. large size sticky post-it notes

March news

Zoo field trip March 30.

Two official chaperones are needed at the cost of $16 each. If you would like to be an official chaperone, let Mrs. Barrett know. The two will be drawn from a hat. Other parents are welcome to meet the class at the zoo, pay and enjoy the day. Official chaperones may not bring other children.

Six student still need permission slips.

Parent summit tonight beginning at 6:00 p.m. Child care is provided for school age children. We have five great topics for our parents to choose from including: "The Challenges of Raising a Boy"; "Special Education Nuts and Bolts" ;" Preparing for the CRCT"; "The Challenges of Raising a Girl" and "Preparing for Middle School". The Parent Summit promises to be a very informative
event!
