Reminder: Class Gift
If you would like to contribute to a class gift for Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Huddleston, please send your contribution in a closed envelope addressed to Meredith Yahne, c/o Olivia through the folder mail. Many thanks!
Reminders; News from Mrs. Barrett
Our letter-sound of the week is /Aa/. Please sign up for the Angel Tree if you'd like to donate! Show and tell for items beginning with the letter-sound /Aa/ need to be sent in on 12/11 and they will be returned to you the same day.
Please continue working on fair trade money problems at home. For example, Charlie has 5 pennies. Does he need 1 nickel or 1 dime to buy crayons that cost 10 cents?. Does Charlie have enough money? Why or Why not? If you have any questions concerning the math homework, please let Mrs. Barrett know.
Upcoming "Winter Holiday" events are as follows:
12/11/09 "Polar Express" Read Aloud and "Literature Response" with our Book Buddies. Children may wear pajamas to school. No slippers please.
12/17/09 "Winter Holiday Party" in Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Huddleston's class from 12:45-1:45. If you can help, please complete the handout that was sent home in your child's book bag on last Friday.
Parents are welcome to attend the "Winter Holiday Party." Also, please let Mrs. Barrett know if you would like to help take the holiday tree" down at the end of the party and before dismissal on 12/17/09. Thanks.
12/21/09- through 1/4/09 NO SCHOOL DUE TO WINTER HOLIDAYS! Students return to school on 1/5/10. Teachers return to school for "Teacher Work day" on 1/4/10.

Upcoming Holiday Events; Dates and Needed Supplies
Gingerbread house building: Children will make milk carton gingerbread houses out of icing and graham crackers.
December 11, Pajama Day and Book Buddy Polar Bear Literature Experience: Hot chocolate and candy canes make for a cozy reading. Wear your PJ's but leave the slippers at home!
December 17, Class Holiday Party at 12:45: Children will play games and build ice cream sundaes. All are welcome to attend and join the fun.
Here's what we need:
small toys and prizes for games and goody bags
spoons, holiday napkins, holiday bowls for the sundaes
sprinkles and syrups for the ice cream
4 plastic seasonal tablecloths
wrapped candies for the bingo markers
goody bags
candy canes
hot chocolate
small cups for hot drinks
Please send back your family's choices on the paper sign up sheet with your child's folder. Each family will receive notification of which of their choices to send in next week.

Upcoming Dates
Please be advised of the following events in our class:
Family and Friends meet your student in the cafeteria for a Thanksgiving style meal! Mrs. Barrett's class dines Wednesday, 11/11/09 from 10:50 to 11:20. A photographer will be on hand to take portraits for $12.
The class will perform a Thanksgiving Drama Play in Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Huddleston's class on Monday, 11/16/09 at 9:00 a.m. ALL PARENTS ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.
Also, there will be an "in house" field trip for Kindergarten on 12/3/09 from Imaginators Museum Scientists at 8:30 am. A zoo field trip is coming up on March 30, 2010. More info will follow as the dates approach.
Thanks to the parents who have helped out making costumes for the play!

1. Readings take place at 9:15 every other Friday in the classroom. Book buddies occur on alternating Fridays.
2. Please bring your own book, or let the teachers know you'll need one in advance.
3. Be on time--teachers have a packed schedule!
4. If you cannot make it last minute, please let Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Huddleston know by sending in a note. If you have advance notice, send an email to motcyn@gmail.com or call (7)745-0336 for a replacement. If possible, you can be rescheduled.
5. Please keep the reader a mystery!
